| When I completed the “Drive of Your Life” game, I discovered that my personal style profile was: structured, influential and practical. The three careers that match my style are: emergency medical technician, ship pilot and police officer. From this information I have decided to explore becoming an emergency medical technician. I selected this job because I enjoy helping people and it's cool. One of my daily activities as an EMT would be to treat an injured person with first aid. I also have to fill out any medical reports about the injury. In addition, I may have to do a treatment or procedures. To work as an EMT, I need have a post-secondary certificate. I must be good at coordinating with hospital personnel and checking on a patient's medical history in order to become a well trained EMT. In the United States, the average salary for an EMT is $31,980 per year. In the state of Virginia, the average annual salary is $33,812. In the United States by the year 2016, employment for an EMT is expected to increase by 19.2%. In the state of Virginia by the year 2016, it is expected to increase by 23.2%. I am looking forward to becoming an emergency medical technician in the future. |
